Why is this important? The vast majority of companies who claim to be content restoration experts bring inexperienced day laborers who use an array of hand tools, chemicals, rags, and brushes to hand clean your personal contents items. Not only is this a laborious process, but it is impossible to get into the tiny, irregular spaces where soot collects. Without using an ultrasonic cleaning system, it is extremely difficult if not impossible to completely dispel smoke residue and smell.

Team 1 Restoration has replaced this outdated methodology of toxic solvents and hand scrubbing and brought the latest technology using ultrasonic sound vibrations, hot water, and engineered soaps to clean a broad range of products and parts. Now with sound waves, not human muscle, the agitation dislodges dirt and soot more thoroughly, getting into the smallest recesses that can be easily missed with hand tools.

Besides being more thorough than traditional hand cleaning methods, we can now process and restore a much wider variety of items that have in the past been deemed total loss such as model sailing ships, artificial plants, chandeliers, porcelains and a multitude of other delicate items. How UltraSonic cleaning works?
In a process termed “cavitation,” micron-sized bubbles form and grow due to alternating positive and negative pressure waves in a solution. The bubbles subjected to these alternating pressure waves continue to grow until they reach resonant size. Just prior to bubble implosion, there is a tremendous amount of energy stored inside the bubble itself. Temperature inside a cavitating bubble can be extremely high, with pressures up to 500 atm. The implosion event, when it occurs near a hard surface, changes the bubble into a jet about one-tenth the bubble size, which travels at speeds up to 400 km/hr toward the hard surface. With the combination of pressure, temperature, and velocity the jet frees contaminants from their bonds. Because of the inherently small size of the jet and the relatively large energy, ultrasonic has the ability to reach into small crevices and remove entrapped soils very effectively.
